Caregivers need to rest.

The primary caregiver is a vital part of the continuum of care for our hospice patients. They are often caring for the patient 24/7 with no reprieve. All of this can cause caregivers to lose sleep and live in isolation and worry, which can result in depression, fatigue, and anxiety also referred to as “caregiver burnout.” Some caregivers facing intense burnout may consider quitting, a decision that could require the patient to be placed in a nursing home or other facility.

It is essential that those taking care of someone near the end of life also take care of themselves by getting plenty of rest and making time for themselves away from the demands of caregiving. Respite care provides a brief “rest period” for the patient’s primary caregiver by admitting the home care patient to a Medicare/Medicaid certified institutional setting.

You and your loved ones deserve the best hospice care can provide. Please let us know if there is any way we can offer our assistance by sending us a message or calling us at 678-806-5900.
